Government

Lawdar (Arabic لودر, Laudar DMG ) is a town in the same district Lawdar whose headquarters it is, and is located in the Abyan Governorate. Lawdar situated at an altitude of almost 1000 m above sea level. M.. The town has nearly 14,000 inhabitants. An airport is located about 30 km northwest at Mukayris.

History

Between government forces and insurgents who should belong in Yemen according to the government of al - Qaeda, it came in Lawdar from October 2010 and early 2011, again heavy fighting. Dozens were killed in the region at the conflicts between jihadists and the army.

On April 9, 2012 fighters attacked the group Ansar al Sharia (helper of the Sharia ), a youth organization of al -Qaeda in Yemen, from several directions to and occupied the barracks of the city.
