Layap

The Laya are semi-nomads in the northern highlands of Bhutan. The Laya speak a dialect of the national language of Bhutan Dzongkha, but with so many variations that only insiders understand this language.

Clothing

The suit is made of yak hair and sheep's wool, which are interwoven in Gurtwebstühlen. The individual garments of the female costume is a black shirt and a black skirt with a bright line, a black woolen jacket, heavy felt boots and a conical hat made ​​of bamboo. The jewelry is usually made of silver and is worn on the back.

Yakzucht

Most Laya go to the Yakzucht that serves as a basis for life. Use the Yakhaare for the production of tents and clothing, the meat is eaten, processes the milk into cheese and butter and the dung of yak is used as fuel. In addition, the yaks are used on arable land as work and pack animals.
