Le Boudin

Le Boudin (German blood sausage) is a blue rug that was bound in the form of a sausage on the knapsacks of the French Foreign Legion. The " boudin " still one of the traditional dress uniform of the Legion and is worn under the field belt. Was the rug in their origin nor a nutzdienlicher piece of equipment (for the night camp in the field), then le has developed boudin these days to a kind of long, colored cloth, which is wrapped several times around the waist and purely falls within the range of traditional symbolism and is also supported exclusively on the dress uniform for special occasions.

As the Foreign Legion was once used in Belgium, renounced the lead to the use of their Legionaries of Belgian origin. This gave the impression that the Belgian comrades were slackers ( " shooter au cul ", dt, "ass shooter " ) in many legionaries. The corresponding mocking resentment that grew this incident, found expression in the text of the resulting at that time march song " Le Boudin ".
