Le Poët-Célard

Le Poët- Célard is a commune of 120 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Drôme in the Rhône -Alpes.

Geography

Le Poët- Célard is located in the district and in the Canton of Bourdeaux, centrally located in the Drome region. The municipality is located 351-744 m and is located about 3 km northwest of Bourdeaux and 28 km east of Montelimar (in straight line ). The village settlement is situated in a small valley floor and is partially surrounded by forest.

The old village center is situated on a small hill, 543 m, and consists of typical Provençal stone houses and the castle of Saint- André, with its circular walls well preserved; this was built in the late Middle Ages. The Roman Catholic church rounds off the character of the village.

Population

Le Poët- Célard with 120 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) one of the smaller communities in the department of Drôme. In 1962, the municipality still 176 inhabitants, after which the population declined sharply to 137 in 1982. During the 1980s and 90s, the population increased again slightly. However, since the last census it is to fall back on. This is mainly because of the low birth rate in the second half of the 20th century. The slight population growth from 1982 to 1999 is explained by the slightly positive net migration. The population density is 17 inhab. / Km ² very low.
