League of Communists of Croatia

The League of Communists of Croatia (Croatian Savez komunista Hrvatske, SKH ) was a part of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, the ruling party in the former Yugoslavia.

History

It was founded in 1937 in Samobor Croatia as Communist Party in 1952 and changed the name to the League of Communists of Croatia ( BdKK ).

The party leadership was the Central Committee, chaired by the President formed the Central Committee of the Socialist Republic of Croatia. The policy of this organization, it was decided at conferences.

In the second half of the 1960s reforms have been decided after the sentencing by Aleksandar Ranković from the party leadership. For the leadership of that period include also Savka Dabčević - Kucar and Miko Tripalo who counted later to the leaders in the Croatian Spring in 1971.

On 10 December 1989 20 political parties began to collect signatures for a petition that called for the tender democratic elections. On the same day, the party agreed to early elections. In January 1990, the delegation of the BKK left the 14th Congress of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia. To hear the BdKK de facto, to be part of the LCY.

With the democratic changes also changed the party's name: In the years 1990-1992 to Party of Democratic Change ( Croatian: Stranka demokratskih promjena ), since 1993, Croatia's Social Democratic Party ( Socijaldemokratska partija Hrvatske ).
