Lee -on-the -Solent or often simplistic Lee-on -Solent is a small seaside town on the Solent five miles west of Portsmouth. Lee -on-the -Solent is in Hampshire in southern England, and was recorded in the census 2001 7067 inhabitants, the statistical extrapolations come today on 7300 inhabitants. Administratively, the town is part of the Borough of Gosport. Lee -on-the -Solent is a typical bedroom community for commuters to Portsmouth and Southampton. The name Lee comes from a creek that flows into the Solent. Since the early 19th century there were efforts by investors to settle this coast.
