Lee Scott (businessman)

Harold Lee Scott, Jr. ( born 1950 ) is an American manager.

Scott was from 2000 to 2009 CEO of the American supermarket chain Wal- Mart, which is the largest employer in the world with over 2.1 million employees. Prior to joining Wal- Mart, Scott studied business administration at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. Since 1979 he has worked for Wal- Mart in different functions and belonged since 1999 to the Board of Directors (Board) of the company at which he presided from 2000 to 2009. In 2011 he left the company. Scott is known for its rigorous low-wage policy and its oppositional attitude towards trade unions. According to the American Time magazine Scott was in the years 2004 and 2005, of the 100 most influential people.
