Leevi and the Leavings

Leevi and the Leavings was a Finnish band that existed from 1978 to 2003. Members were band leader Gösta Sundqvist (vocals, guitar), Risto Paananen (Bass), Juha Karastie (guitar) and Niklas Nylund (drums).

The band broke up after the death of a heart attack Gösta Sundqvists. Sundqvist, who wrote all the songs for the band, was in Finland as an extraordinary personality, because he shunned publicity and rarely gave interviews. Even television appearances and concerts by him and therefore the band were a rarity. For the transmitter radio mafia Yleisradio ( YLE ), he wrote a radio program and with his band, he enjoyed high popularity in Finland. The sung entirely in Finnish songs often contained tragicomic elements and belong to many Finns to the best Finnish songs. In the karaoke bars are frequently sung after the dissolution of the group. In addition to the often sad song Sundqvists ( the song " Elina Mitä moderate teen" was elected in 2006 in a reader poll of the Helsingin Sanomat in third place of the saddest Finnish songs) were a female background singing group ( such as in "En tahdo sinua enää ") and the special blend of folk, pop, rock, less commonly, hard rock rhythms ( such as in " The Unknown ystävä " or " Lihaksikas nainen " ) and reggae ( " Ihmeiden kaupunki " ), as well as distinctive style melodies.
