Leila de Lima

Leila de Lima Magistrado ( born August 27, 1959 in Iriga City ) is a Filipino lawyer, university teacher and politician.

Biography

The oldest daughter of former Commissioner ( Commissioner) of the Electoral Commission ( COMELEC ) Vicente B. de Lima studied closely the visit elementary school and high school of La Consolacion Academy from 1976 to 1980 first political science at the De La Salle University in Manila and where she earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA History). She then graduated in law at San Beda College and finished this with a Bachelor of Laws ( LL.B. ). Shortly thereafter, she joined as an eight best from the lawyer's state exam in 1985.

In April 1986 she began her career as a tax assistant in the law firm of SyCip, Gorres, Velayo & Co., but took back in June 1986, the appointed Professor of Law at San Beda College of Law and taught there until 1994 electoral law, business organization, personal rights, family law, traffic law, statute law and introduction to law. At the same time it was from July 1989 to 1989 as a lawyer member of the staff of Isagani A. Cruz, a judge of the Supreme Court of the Philippines.

After that she worked as a lawyer in the law firm Jardaleza, Sobreviñas, Diaz, Hayudini & Bodegon Law Offices. Subsequently, she was 1991-1992 lawyer in the firm Jardaleza Law Offices.

She was employee in the House of Representatives of the Philippines in 1993 and was there as Recording Secretary ( Clerk ) of the Electoral Tribunal worked until 1995. In April 1995, she appeared as a junior partner in the law firm Roco, Buñag, Kapunan & Migallos and was then in July 1998, the founder and Managing Partner of the law firm De Lima & Menez. After nearly nine years in this office, it was in April 2007, Managing Partner of the law firm De Lima Law Firm addition, it was between 2006 and 2007 again a professor of law at San Beda College of Law.

On 7 May 2008, she was appointed by President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo to the Chairman of the Commission on Human Rights (Commission on Human Rights ), however, met with their work often resistance from government officials and judges. In 2009, she was told by the TV GMANews for " employee of the Public Service of the Year".

After the elections in the Philippines in 2010 Leila de Lima was on June 30, 2010 by President Benigno Aquino III. Minister of Justice ( Secretary of Justice) appointed to his cabinet.
