Iriga

Iriga Iriga City or Town is a Philippine component city in the province of Camarines Sur. It has 105 919 inhabitants ( census May 1, 2010 ) living in 39 barangays. Iriga City is part of the fourth income class of the cities in the Philippines. A regular rail link between Manila and Iriga City, it is operated by the Philippine National Railways.

Geography

It is located 291 km southeast of the Philippine capital of Manila and 22 km southeast of the provincial capital of Pili. Iriga City is nicknamed city of sources in the Bicol region. About 30 sources are located in the municipal area and part of the water catchment area of ​​the Bicol River. The topography of the city varies from extensive lowlands to mountainous landscapes. History

The name of the city comes from the phrase commonly used in Bikolano I raga, which is herein country. The first known settlement in the municipality was on the banks of the Bicol River and was Bua ( Nabua ) refers. In 1573 the Conquistador Juan de Salcedo conquered the region around 120 men Iriga City.
