Lemuel Abbott
Lemuel Abbott (* 1730, † in April 1776) was an English cleric and poet.
About his life little is known; In 1756 he was curate in Anstey ( Leicestershire ) in 1773 vicar of Thornton. He was probably the father of the painter Lemuel Francis Abbott (* 1760, † 1802).
In 1765 he published a small volume of poetry with spiritual themes, mostly hymn paraphrases of biblical texts with pronounced sanglichem character; precedes the band is an essay about the English metric.
