Lengyel

Lengyel ( German Lendl ) is a town in Tolna county, in the small area Bonyhád.

Location

Lengyel is the highest town in Tolna county and lies between Bonyhád and Dombóvár.

History

After the Second World War in 1945 were imprisoned in Lengyel over 12,000 Hungary in a German internment camp in Lengyel. During the time of their captivity their homes and farms of Hungary were repossessed. Whole until then of Danube Swabians ( Banat Swabians? ) Inhabited villages were depopulated. Székely - Hungarians were settled there. Many of the prisoners were women and children ( the men or fathers were killed in captivity or ).
