Lennart Nilsson

Lennart Nilsson ( born August 22, 1922 in Strängnäs ) is a Swedish photographer and filmmaker science. His pioneering work is to recordings of embryos and microscopic images of human body tissue, bacteria and viruses.

Originally a photojournalist, he became known in 1953 with his scientific photography. In 1955 he presented his first exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Lennart Nilsson is a member of the Swedish Society of Medicine and an honorary member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the IWF Knowledge and Media. His work has been honored with three Emmy Awards, among others. He received an honorary doctorate in 2002 from the Technical University of Braunschweig and the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, where he also has his lab. In 1980 he received the Hasselblad Award.
