Lenophyllum

Lenophyllum is a genus of flowering plants in the family Crassulaceae ( Crassulaceae ). The botanical name of the genus is derived from the Greek words " Leno " for trough sink and " φύλλον " ( phyllon ) for leaf and refers to the often längsrinnigen leaves. Therefore, the genus is also called sometimes trough sheet.

Description

The species of the genus Lenophyllum are bald perennial herbaceous plant with thickened or fibrous roots. The few basal pairs alternate arranged leaves become smaller towards the top and are further apart. They are thick, often shaped rinnig and elliptical to rounded or rhombic. Your blade tips are pointed to rounded.

The terminal inflorescence is a Zyme or consists of a few multifloral winding or forming a narrow panicle. The almost sessile flowers are fünfzählig and obdiplostemon. The upright or ascending, nearly equal sepals are lanceolate to oblanceolate and about as long as the open corolla. The yellow or yellowish petals are also lanceolate to oblanceolate and 5-8 millimeters long.

The fruit is a follicle vielsamige. The brown seeds contained therein are striped ellipsoid along.

Systematics and distribution

The genus Lenophyllum is widespread in the United States in the south Texas and northeastern Mexico. The first description took Joseph Nelson Rose 1904 before. After Reid Venable Moran (* 1916), the genus Lenophyllum of the species:
