Leo McCartie

Patrick Leo McCartie ( born September 5, 1925 in West Hartlepool ) is a retired Bishop of Northampton.

Life

Patrick Leo McCartie received on 17 July 1949, and was ordained priest incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Birmingham. Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 13 April 1977 Titular Bishop of Elmhama and auxiliary bishop in Birmingham.

The Archbishop of Birmingham, George Patrick Dwyer, who donated it on 20 May of that year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Joseph Gray, Auxiliary Bishop of Liverpool, and Joseph Francis Cleary, Auxiliary Bishop of Birmingham.

On 20 February 1990, Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of Northampton. On 29 March 2001 this McCarties age-related resignation accepted.
