Leo Rwabwogo

Leo Rwabwogo ( born June 3, 1949 in Tororo, † 14 January, 2009 Rugongo, Kabarole district ) was a Ugandan boxer and Olympic medalist.

In the Africa Championships 1968 Rwabwogo won the gold medal in the flyweight (-51 kg). In the same year he won at the Olympic Summer Games 1968 in Mexico City to wins over Sang- Byung Seo, South Korea (5-0 ), David Vasquez, United States ( 3-2 ), and Tibor Badari, Hungary (3:2) and a semi-final defeat against Artur Olech, Poland ( 3:2 ), the bronze medal.

1970 Rwabwogo won the silver medal of the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh. At the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich Rwabwogo reached after victories over Jorge Acuna, Uruguay (5-0 ), Maurice O'Sullivan, United Kingdom ( TKO 1 ), Orn - Chim Chawalit, Thailand ( 4-1 ), Neil McLaughlin, Ireland ( TKO 3 ), and Douglas Rodriguez, Cuba ( 3-2 ) in the final. In this he faced the Bulgarian Georgi Kostadinov, whom he defeated 5-0 judges votes. Rwadwogo is thus the only Ugandans who could win more than one Olympic medal.
