Leon Kieres

Leon kieres ( born May 26, 1948 in Zielona Kolonia, Voivodeship Białystok ) was President of the Polish Institute of National Remembrance (IPN ).

He studied law at the University of Breslau. In addition, he was a senator and member of the Group of Solidarity electoral alliance and a deputy in the Lower Silesian Landtag for the Unia Wolności. From 8 June 2000 to 22 December 2005, he was president of the Institute of National Remembrance. His successor was Janusz Kurtyka († 2010).
