Leonard Goffiné

Leonhard Goffiné (December 6, 1648 Broich at Jülich, † August 11 1719 in Oberstein ) was Premonstratensian Canons in Steinfeld / Eifel and religious folk writer monastery. Life

Leonhard Goffiné was born on December 6, 1648 in Broich at Jülich. His parents were Johann and Gertrud Bois Goffiné. After Backmund the name Goffiné is Walloon origin. The mother came from the patrician family of Cologne Bois and wiping.

Hand of Piety

Goffiné is known for its popular Hand of Piety, an explanation of the Sonntagsepisteln and gospels in questions and answers. Other works

As 1679 Goffiné took the decision to publish his recorded sermons. From under the title soul light produced two volumes of sermons on Sundays and holidays, which were printed in 1705 by Johann Christoph Lochner in Nuremberg.
