Leonard of Port Maurice

Leonard of Porto Maurizio, OFM ( Leonoardo da Porto Maurizio, Paolo Girolamo actually Casa Nuova, born December 20 1676 in Porto Maurizio, Imperia today (Liguria ), † November 26, 1751 in Rome) was a Franciscan friar and preacher. The celebration of the Cross took him by its present shape.

He was beatified in 1867 and canonized in the Catholic Church in 1796; In 1923 he was appointed as patron of the People's missionaries. His feast day is November 26th. His remains rest in the high altar of San Bonaventura al Palatino Church.
