Leonardo Cortese

Leonardo Cortese ( born May 24, 1916 in Rome, † October 21, 1984 ) was an Italian actor and director.

Life

Corteses family is originally from Naples; he visited after law degree Accademia dell'Arte Drammatica, where he graduated in 1938. In the same year he made his film debut in Mario Bonnard Jeanne Doré and worked from there on a regular basis in the film; on theater stages saw him 1940/41, in the ensemble of Filippo Scelzo. In addition, he has performed with Luigi Almirante and Sarah Ferrati on together.

In the Italian moviegoers - especially the female - Cortese was a matinee idol, not only because of its appearance, but also because of its ripened and fresh way of interpreting his roles. In 1962, he returned to a final film as a director the big screen back on and moved his activities to the screen, he served since 1956. Here he created both as a director of films (La figlia del capitano, Luia Sanfelice etc.) as well as of detective series with Ubaldo Lay ( eg La donna di quadri, La donna di cuori ) great success with the critics and the audience.
