Léonce Perret

Léonce Perret ( born May 13, 1880 in Niort, † August 14, 1935 in Paris) was a French actor, screenwriter, producer and director.

Life

A trained stage actor appeared in the early 20th century in various German - French silent film productions and worked several times with director Louis Feuillade and the film production company Gaumont together. In addition to his acting career, he appeared in 1909 as a director and screenwriter of over 200 short and feature films in charge, his first successes were Le Feu à la mine, 1911 and L' Enfant de Paris, 1913.

1917 emigrated Perret in the United States, worked for the Hollywood studio Pathé and founded his own production company, Perret Picture Inc. in the USA and in 1918 one of his best-known films, the war drama Lest We Forget ( N'oublions jamais ) was born. In the early 1920s Perret returned back to France and worked until his death in 1935 at another film projects to which he also contributed the scripts. His last film, the large-scale production Koenig Mark, which served as a vehicle for the Austro - Italian actress Elissa Landi was completed in 1936 by Maurice Tourneur.
