Leonid Kubbel

Leonid Ivanovich Kubbel (Russian Леонид Иванович Куббель, originally Charles Arthur Leonid Kubbel; born December 25 1891jul / January 6 1892greg in St. Petersburg, .. † April 18, 1942 in Leningrad) was a Russian chess composer.

Biography

From professional Leonid Kubbel was a chemical engineer. His two brothers also dealt with the chess composition. Arwid Kubbel ( born November 12, 1889 in St. Petersburg, † 11 January 1938) published about 500 compositions of the Bohemian school, mainly with three Züger. The younger Yevgeny Kubbel (* October 23, 1894, † 1942) authored over 150 tasks, especially two Züger. Leonid Kubbel and his brother Yevgeny died during the Siege of Leningrad and were buried with another blockade victims in a mass grave. Arwid was arrested on 21 November 1937. Chess composition
