Leonid Maltsev

Ljeanid Sjamjonawitsch Malzau ( born August 29, 1949) was from 2001 to 2009 Minister of Defence of Belarus.

Biography

He attended the Suvorov Military School in Minsk, studied from 1967 to 1971 at the general commander school in Kiev, who graduated with honors. Until 1976, he completed his service with the Soviet armed forces in the GDR.

After completion of the General Staff Academy in 1992, he was appointed First Deputy Commander of the General Army Belorussian Military District. He then became commander of the 28th Army Corps, then Chief of the Main Staff and First Deputy Minister of Defence, and finally he was in 2001 Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus since March 28.
