Leonti Mroveli

Leonti Mroweli (Georgian ლეონტი მროველი ) was a Georgian chronicler of the 11th century. Mroveli is not a surname, but an adjective for the Diocese Ruissi, whose bishop he was likely. Therefore, a more modern German transliteration of his name is Leonti (us) of Ruissi.

Except in the later comments of the manuscripts of " Kartlis Tskhovreba " (Georgian ქართლის ცხოვრება, Georgian chronicles ), an archbishop of Ruisi named Leonti is mentioned only three times: once in a manuscript from the 11th century from the Mount Athos; once in the Georgian translation of the " Euthymius the Georgian life " and once in a Georgian inscription from the village Trechwi, from 1066. Assumptions that Leonti Mroveli lived in the 8th or early centuries, are rejected today.
