Leopoldine Blahetka

Anna Maria Leopoldine Blahetka ( born November 16, 1809 in Guntramsdorf; † January 17, 1885 in Boulogne -sur -Mer ) was an Austrian composer and pianist.

Life

Anna Maria Leopoldine Blahetka was born on 16 November 1809 in Guntram village in Lower Austria. At the age of 7 years, she graduated first public appearances, and the Viennese press described it as a " prodigy ". At 11 she created her first compositions, they also regularly aufführte within their concerts.

She took lessons from Joseph Czerny studied with Friedrich Kalkbrenner and Moscheles Piano and Music Theory at Simon Sechter. At 16 she embarked on her first concert tour to Germany, where Robert Schumann, who heard it on this occasion said that their game is "a genuinely feminine, delicate, deliberate and prepared ." Their compositions very impressed him.

1828, she appeared in Vienna at a concert of violinist Niccolò Paganini, who thus his admiration brought her to express opposite.

After their first compositions of piano music, she followed the fashion of the Biedermeier period and composed the one-act play "The Robbers and the singer ", which premiered on 22 March 1830 in Vienna at the court theater.

At this time moved Leopoldine Blahetka to Boulogne -sur -Mer. There, she taught piano and her concerts were seen as artistic highlights of their new hometown. In addition, they continue went on concert tours. From her time in France is known beyond little about her life. Her great passion was still music. She composed more than 70 works, including orchestral pieces, waltzes, songs and sacred works.

On January 17, 1885 Leopldine Blahetka died in Boulogne -sur -Mer, where her funeral because of their high prestige was a social event.
