Leos Carax
Leos Carax ( born November 22, 1960 in Suresnes, France, Alexandre Oscar Dupont actually ) is a French film director.
Life
Leos Carax was born Alexandre Oscar Dupont. His stage name is an anagram of his first name Alex and Oscar (Alex and Oscar are the characters played by actor Denis Lavant in Carax 's films ). Carax enthusiastic in his youth for astronomy and oceanography before his interest arose for the film. Prior to his career as a director, he worked as a film critic for the magazine Cahiers du cinéma.
Carax was first known when he surprisingly for his first feature film Boy Meets Girl in Cannes, won the Prix de la jeunesse 1984. With his next film The night is young, he was able to achieve, among others, at the Berlinale successes. For his film The Lovers on the Bridge Carax had taken nearly four years, because unforeseen events extended production time - and also drove the production costs up. The film was considered the most expensive film in France. 1999 Carax was back with his controversial film Pola X, but flunked both critics and viewers.
After Pola X Carax tried unsuccessfully for five years to get his English-language directorial debut Scars financed, were estimated for the production costs of 13 million euros.
