Lerik District
Lerik is a rayon in the south of Azerbaijan. The capital of the district is the city Lerik. In the southwest borders of the rayon to Iran.
Geography
The district has an area of 1,084 km ². The region is part of the Talysh Mountains and partially wooded. In the region it comes from time to time to earthquakes, the last in 1998. The National Park of Chirkan is located in the district.
Population
In Rayon lived 2009 74.300 people. These are spread over 138 settlements. A majority of the population belongs to the Talysh.
Economy
The region is dominated by agriculture. It is grown mainly tea, wheat, tobacco, potatoes and vegetables.
Traffic
The district is connected by road with A323 Lənkəran. There is a bus service to Lənkəran and Baku.
