Les Deux Alpes

Les Deux Alpes is a ski resort in the French Isère.

The village lies in the Dauphiné Alps at an altitude of 1650 m in the face of almost four thousand meters high mountain Meije. The catchment area of the village is part of a European glacier skiing.

Les Deux Alpes ski resort was built as the second to Chamonix and has developed mainly in the 1950s.

The resort has 102 ski slopes ( difficulty light blue to black) with a total length of 220 km, three cross-country skiers slopes with a length of 25 km and six facilities, including snowboarding. The area is served by 51 different types of lifts that lead up partly to an altitude of 3,600 m.

The lift pass " Grande Galaxie " is valid also spend a day in L' Alpe d' Huez, Serre Chevalier and Sestriere.

The name of the station indicates that they ( ' deux Alpes ') of the lower-lying places Venosc and Mont -de- Lans has arisen in the field of high mountain pastures.

The place has become known as one of the most challenging mountain finishes the recent Tour de France history. The increase is about 9 km long, with the average slope is about 8 %. The maximum gradient is 12.5% ​​.
