Les Lye

Les Lye Leslie Earnest Lye actually ( born November 18, 1924 in Toronto, Ontario, † July 21, 2009 in Ottawa, Ontario ) was a Canadian actor.

Life

Lye graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts. In 1948, he moved to Ottawa and was hired there as a radio announcer. Within the next ten years, he became one of the most popular radio hosts in the country. From 1958 he worked for television, first up in 1961 as co-host of the talk show Contact.

In 1966, he led a total of 22 years with Bill Luxton by the children's program Uncle Willy & Floyd. From 1979 to 1990 he hosted 143 episodes of the children's show You Can not Do That On Television. In addition, he also worked as a voice actor of cartoons, including in an episode of The Raccoons and in two series specials from the Care Bears series.
