Leslie Plummer

Leslie Arthur Plummer ( born June 2, 1901 in Demerara, British Guiana, † April 15, 1963 in New York City ) was a British agricultural expert, publisher and politician.

In 1922 he took a leading position in the publishing director of the New Leader, the party newspaper of the socialist-oriented Independent Labour Party. He founded The Miner and became the publishing director of the Daily Express Group. In 1948 he was appointed by his friend John Strachey, at that time Minister of Food, chairman of the board of the Overseas Food Corporation (OFC ) and beaten in June 1949 for the Knights. In the fall of 1949, the problems of the operated by the OFC Tanganyika Groundnut Scheme obvious and Plummer as Strachey were blamed by the opposition in the House for it. Plummer resigned in May 1950 from his office. From October 1951 until his death, he was Member of Parliament for the Labour Party.
