The Indonesian island of Leti ( indon. Pulau Leti ) is one of the Leti Islands (South Moluccas ).

Geography

Leti is the westernmost island of Leti Islands. To the east is the larger island of Moa. Main place of Leti is Serwaru.

The island consists of a triangular ridge that is bounded by the mountains to the east and Rapat Koli Besar in the west. Leti has no natural harbor. Through the monsoon from December to April it is completely cut off from the outside world, since then the anchorages are not usable.

Leti forms the district ( Kecamatan ) Leti Moa Lakor ( Maluku Barat Daya district government, Maluku province). Serwaru is the main town of the district.

Leti Moa Lakor is divided into seven Desa Nuwewang ( 1,015 inhabitants in 2010 ), Tomra ( 2433 ), Tutuwaru (380) Luhulely ( 1010 ), Tutukey ( 1136 ), Batumiau ( 1007 ) and Laitutun (545).

Population

On the island of Leti 7,000 people live. You speak the Austronesian language Leti.
