Letter of Peter to Philip

The Letter of Peter to Philip, Epistula Petri ( EPPT ), is a pseudepigraphic, strongly influenced Gnostic writing that was originally written in Greek and is likely to date from the late 2nd or the 3rd century. Two Coptic translations are obtained: an almost complete among the Nag Hammadi (NHC VIII, 2) and a fragmentary as the first part of the Codex Tchacos. It's about re- revelation through Jesus, the Apostles appear on the Mount of Olives. Philip plays a role only in the initial part.

Author, dating

The author is unknown. He knows " New Testament and other early Christian writings and is, Gnostic ' ideology familiar. " Us The surviving manuscripts from the 4th century date back to almost identical Greek originals.

The text type can be determined only with difficulty. On the epistolary beginning follow prayers of the disciples, Christ phenomena and dialogues.
