Rodolphe Kasser

Rodolphe Kasser ( born January 14, 1927 in Yverdon- les- Bains, † October 8, 2013 ) was a Swiss Koptologe, who worked mainly in the field of philology, but also in archeology.

Kasser was 1963-1997 holder of the only Swiss Chair of Coptic Studies at the University of Geneva. Since 1965 he has led the work of the mission Suisse d' Archéologie Copte in kellia.

Under his leadership, the Coptic text of the Gospel of Judas were three years deciphered that have been discovered near the town of Al- Minya in Middle Egypt. The manuscript was published in 2006 by National Geographic in Washington.

He was a member of the German Archaeological Institute.
