The Blue Breitbandschwebfliege ( Leucozona Glaucia ) ( Syn: Ischyrosyrphus glaucius ) is a fly from the family of hoverflies (Syrphidae ).

Features

The flies reach a length of 10 to 12 mm and have the typical hoverflies syrphusartigen physique. The forehead is yellow in color and has a hairy black probe spot. The antennae are black. The face of the female is yellow and is crossed by a black Mittelstrieme, ranging from the ocelli to the sensor spot. The male has no Mittelstrieme. The tag ( scutellum ) may vary from brownish -yellow to pale yellow, and is hairy yellow. The abdomen is elongated narrow and has a velvety black color, which is interrupted by three very broad and bluish binding. Occurrence

The distribution area of the Blue Breitbandschwebfliegen ranges from Europe to Japan. They are especially common in Central Europe in the mountains and beside rivers, in acidophilus oak forest and riparian gallery forest. There, on forest trails, wooded areas, and often in meadows. They fly from May to September being the highlight of the flight time is in July and August.

Way of life
