Li Po Chun United World College

The Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong (Chinese香港 李宝椿 联合 世界 书院), ( LPCUWC short ) is one of over 13 United World Colleges, a group of schools that educate through international education and social commitment to tolerance and social responsibility.

The boarding school was opened in 1992 by Sir David Wilson. It is located in the New Territories in Hong Kong, on the edge of the Ma On Shan Nature Park. The campus consists of an academic building, the canteen, the sports fields, the gym and 4 boarding school buildings, covering around 256 students from different countries live together with their teachers and their families and learn.

The high academic standards, intensive social services and a wide range of creative, sporting and cultural associations are an integral part of life at LPCUWC. Likewise, the focus is on the lived at the College Diversity: Since its inception in 1992, students lived here from over 118 countries, selected exclusively for academic and personal talent. A majority of the student body is supported by partial or full scholarships.

Recording

The school takes pupils on from about 80 nations and many local schools. The ratio in this case is 40 % locals and 60 % students of other nations. While the " overseas " students are selected by national committees, students from Hong Kong with the help of three test rounds of the Home Affairs Bureau will be selected.

Lessons

The college uses its position as a place of encounter between East and West. It offers Chinese courses at different levels. Quan Cai

To obtain the International Baccalaureate Diploma, the student must present a certain number of hours of work communities. It must be selected one activity in the areas of creativity, sports and social commitment. The variant in Hong Kong is called Quan Cai (Chinese for " comprehensive development " ) and includes, in addition to the three areas mentioned work on campus and global affairs.
