Liberal National Party of Queensland

The Liberal National Party (English: Liberal National Party, LNP ) is a liberal conservative political party in Queensland, Australia.

History

The LNP was created in mid 2008 by the merger of the regional branch of the National Party and the Liberal Party in the Australian state of Queensland. It forms organisationally a branch of the Liberal Party.

Founding Chairman of the LNP was Lawrence Springborg. Since 2009, the party is led by John -Paul Langbroek.

The LNP came first in 2009 to the election of the country's Parliament of Queensland. Despite a clear mandate increases to 34 ( 2006: 25 ), the Liberal National Party of the Australian Labor Party had (2009: 51; 2006: 59) admit defeat. Consequence of the election result was the resignation of the LNP founding chairman Springborg.
