Liberales Institut

The Liberal Institute is a Swiss think tank based in Zurich. It was founded in 1979 and is headed by Pierre Bessard since 2008. Chairman of the Board is the Swiss writer Robert Nef. Other board members are the lawyer Daniel Eisele, the entrepreneur Daniel Model, the Rev. Peter Ruch, Christoph Frei and Victoria Curzon -Price. The Institute is funded by its own account through private donations. A formal membership is possible among friends and supporters circle the Liberal Institute. The Institute is part of the Stockholm Network, an international association of economic liberal -oriented think tanks. It awards the Röpke Prize for civil society, in 2010, the banker Karl Reichmuth, 2011, the publicist Beat Kappeler and 2012 the economist Bruno Frey received.

Organization

The Foundation Board is renewed by co-option and elect a president from among its members and the Director of the Institute, who is also member of the Board. He also approves the budget and annual report and financial statements.

The operating team of the Liberal Institute consists of associated employees, researchers, and a research director.

Reception

The philosopher Georg Kohler, a former member of the Liberal Institute, criticized the institution in an essay for the Tagi - Magi as "one-sided economic liberal " and the " critical state - antizentralistischen teaching" prescribed.
