Libero Tresoldi

Libero Tresoldi ( born January 18, 1921 in Rivolta d' Adda, Cremona, Italy Province; † October 22, 2009 in Milan ) was a Roman Catholic Bishop of Crema.

Life

Libero Tresoldi received on May 29, 1943, ordained priest by the Archbishop of Milan, Cardinal Alfredo Ildefonso Schuster. After working in the archdiocese of Milan, among others, in the parish of Santa Maria alla Fontana, he was in 1976 Abbot - Priest of the Basilica of St. Ambrogio, one of the oldest and most important churches in Milan.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him titular bishop of the 1970 Altinum and ordered him auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Milan. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Milan and later Cardinal, Giovanni Umberto Colombo, on November 22, 1970; Co-consecrators were the two auxiliary bishops of Milan and Giuseppe Schiavini Teresio Ferraroni. In 1981 he was appointed by Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Crema. 1996 his age-related resignation was accepted.

He was committed to the implementation of the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum to rehabilitate the old Fair. In 2007, he celebrated a Pontifical Mass in the Church of S.Gottardo al Corso in Milan in ancient Ambrosian rite in memory of Cardinal Schuster.

Libero Tresoldi was more than 30 years a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem. In 1973 he became Grand Officer and was Grand Prior of the Lieutenancy Coadjutor Italia Settentrionale 1974-1987. From 1988 to 2006 he was Grand Prior of the Lieutenancy for northern Italy. In 2006 he "ad honorem ", by the Cardinal Grand Master of the title of the Grand Prior.
