Libertad Lamarque

Libertad Lamarque de Bouza (* November 24, 1908 in Rosario, † December 12, 2000 in Mexico City) was an Argentine actress and singer.

Biography

The daughter of a Spanish immigrant and a Uruguayan territory from France showed in her childhood great acting and especially singing talent, which is why she supported her mother by force. So she was seven years old the first time on the stage of a theater, and was already twelve a professional actress.

In 1922 the family Lamarque moved to Buenos Aires, where Libertad should achieve an artistic future. With eighteen Libertad sang with success in 1926 with their first album tango. More successes came on. Privately, she fell in love with Emilio Romero, 1928, the daughter Mirtha to the world. Over time, the estranged couple and they wanted a divorce, but that was then very difficult.

Then Lamarque committed from depression and despair attempted suicide by she jumped from the window of a hotel in Santiago de Chile, but fortunately slowed an awning to fall. Soon after her ex- husband kidnapped their daughter to Uruguay.

Lamarque was accompanied by police and some friends to Montevideo to pick up their daughter. However, her career went on and with success. An examination of Eva Perón, however, meant that she left in 1946 and came to Argentina with her second husband to Mexico.

Soon they knew them in Mexico as an excellent dramatic actress, a great singer of tangos, boleros and Latin American folk songs. They were called the "Bride of America."

When she returned after the fall of Peron in Buenos Aires, people enthusiastic for her glorious voice and Lamarque met with admiration, respect and love. Through all of South America she joined the people. In 1996, she decided in Miami, Florida, settle, accompanied by her assistant Irene Lopez. Her daughter Mirtha, her son, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren stayed in Buenos Aires.

With 92 years Lamarque was still active, cheerful and happy when she got a gig in the telenovela A Usurpadora.

One morning, she felt ill and had to be rushed to a hospital accident of Mexico City, where she died after ten days on 12 December 2000. Her body was cremated and her ashes scattered off the coast of Miami into the sea.

At the time of her death she had appeared in 67 films ( 21 in Argentina, 45 in Mexico and one in Spain) and 6 telenovelas. She had recorded over 800 songs and countless stage performances.
