Liberty Road (France)

The Voie de la Liberté is a historical route in northern France, which represents the course of the liberation by the Allies after the D-Day end of the Second World War. The length is 1446 km, each kilometer is marked by a milestone ( Borne ).

History

In June 1944, Colonel Guy de la Vasselais, ancien chef de la Mission militaire française de la liaison tactique près le XXe Corps de la IIIe Armée U.S., the idea for creating this historic route had. It was completed in the years 1946/47, the grand opening was on September 18, 1947 in Fontainebleau.
