Light is the seventh studio album by the German band The Horsemen of the Apocalypse. It was released on 29 August 2008 with Nuclear Blast and November 10, 2008 at The End Records (U.S.). Light is the only album on the Lady Cat -Man, which left the Horsemen of the Apocalypse already after one year, participated.
History
In 2007 preparations began and the songwriting for light. In March 2008 the recordings started at Principal Studios, where already the previous album Riders On The Storm was recorded. Even during the recordings, 22 March 2008, the band gave the separation of guitarist Pitrone known. This left the Horsemen of the Apocalypse after six years, after more and more differences between him and the band had arisen.
" [ ..] Because the feeling [ ... ] was the kind of sand had come into the gearbox. In recent months, the impression that no more five men pulled together reinforced. Little things added up, pent-up anger in itself, different views on the band's sound became apparent. "
He was replaced by Lady Cat -Man, former guitar student in Weimar, which singer Fuchs was recommended by a friend. The guitar parts have been recorded not more of Pitrone, but from her and fox. The -heard Piano elements were first recorded on a wing instead of a keyboard.
On August 29, 2008 Light was released by the label Nuclear Blast, in the U.S. through The End Records on November 10, 2008. The album is also available with a bonus CD of the single The way the game Monster Ball and a making-of video are included for The Way.
After the release of the album started The apocalyptic riders a tour through Germany, Austria, Switzerland and some other countries.
Light was the only album on the Lady Cat -Man was involved, as they exited the band after the tour.

Album Name
The name of light is to hope for the band and those symbolize that do not want to come to terms with the realities in life itself. He also represents "progress, fight, love, courage, cohesion in happy moments in time of need, skepticism, questions and easily for the last year and a half Rider history. " (Fuchs :) These points are reinforced by the fact that all the texts of the album autobiographical stories from real life tell.
Cover
The cover shows the band with white shorts and bare chests (except Lady Cat -Man ) emerge from a blinding light. It is based on the song We are the light, which is also the title song of the album. By Cover the symbolism of hope is taken to be disseminated through the album. The cover is not typical of the metal scene, as are commonly used dark cover.
Criticism
Light came in the metal scene consistently good reviews and was highly praised. Marc Halupczok from Metal Hammer emphasizes the homogeneity compared to the old album and awards 6 of 7 points.
Again and again, the Horsemen of the Apocalypse are also praised for it, in spite of high expectations to do their own thing. For example, praises Jessica from Webzine metal.de this fact and awards 9 of 10 points:

Also the Webzine metalnews.de awards top marks. So light was 6.5 out of 7 points and is referred to as " -created art":
