Lichtebach

The light stream is a 19 km long orographic right tributary of Lutter in Bielefeld and Gütersloh in North Rhine -Westphalia.

Course

The light stream rises in the northwest of the hamlet of Bielefeld source from a source pot on the southern slopes of the giant mountain and then flows to the flattening of the Teutoburg Forest in southwestern direction from following.

After a little more than two kilometers flow path, the right side recording of the incoming from the north Flaßbaches done. Subsequently, the water heads northwest past Ummeln and runs in this section only slightly below the Bielefeld northwestern border. West of Holtkamp the light of Bach eventually enters the territory of the city of Gütersloh and flows in south-west direction, the districts Hollen, Ebbesloh and Niehorst.

Northeast of Niehorst the water reaches the wetland reserve on the light stream and takes within the protection area on the right side to the Steinbach. To the west of this area enters the light stream in the urban area of ​​Harsewinkel one, heads north past the nature reserve chicken bog and crosses later in the central district of Marienfeld. To the west of Marienfeld flows, also known as the Wöstenbach in this area waters then the right side in the Lutter.

The light stream overcomes during its flow path a height difference of 68 meters, thus results in an average bed slope of 3.6 ‰.

Environment

In the field of Bielefeld the light stream in the entire course of the water quality class II is attributed, thus resulting in a moderate contamination of the water. To restore the stream run as semi-natural habitat source impoundments and embankments have been removed in recent years in the area.
