Light grove / mountain railway is a district of the city Oberweißenbach / Thuringian Forest in the district Saalfeld- Rudolstadt, in Thuringia and is located in the Thuringian Forest Nature Park.

History

The place was first mentioned in 1455 and is located on the ancient trade route from Erfurt to Nuremberg. Once the place belonged to the County of Schwarzburg, later the Principality of Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt. In the Thirty Years' War, the town was devastated. The main occupation of the inhabitants was originally in forestry, charcoal burning and Pechsiederei. Later the Olitätenhandel was added as a major industry. 1812 were counted 375 inhabitants, in 1902 there were 524 in 1923, the company was opened on the Oberweißbacher mountain railway, was connected with the light grove on the railway network. Major industries of modern times was the glass industry and the thermometer manufacturing, after the Second World War, increasingly, tourism.

The municipality light grove / mountain railway was disbanded on 1 December 2008 and incorporated into the city Oberweißenbach. Until then, the community of the administrative community mountain railway Region / Schwarzatal belonged with administrative headquarters in Oberweißenbach.

The coat of arms was designed by Frank heraldist Diemar and approved by the Thuringian State Office of Administration on 30 September 1994.

Traffic

Oberweißbacher mountain lift: transfer point between the 1.4 km long funicular that connects Obstfelderschmiede at the Schwarzatal train rotting Bach Katzhütte with light grove, and the 2.6 km long Adhäsionsstrecke, the light Hain Oberweißenbach with Cursdorf connects.
