Lieutenant Junior Grade

Lieutenant Junior Grade ( LTJG ) is an officer rank in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard.

The LTJG leads as a junior officer (junior officer ) and enlisted Petty Officer. Before reaching the service level, it is Commander in the U.S. Navy custom, to address the junior officer with " Mister ", also you can shorten the rank in the salutation to the Lieutenant. The officer must have served as an Ensign at least two years after obtaining the patent officer before he can be promoted to LTJG ( in the U.S. Coast Guard 18 months).

The LTJG in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard is the equivalent of a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Air Force. The NATO rank code system he has the level OF- 1a and is thus the equivalent of the Lieutenant of the German Navy, or a Sub - Lieutenant OF- 1 of the Royal Navy and other navies, which lean against the Commonwealth system.
