LifeDrive

The LifeDrive is out matched by Palm in May 2005 PDA ( categorization of the manufacturer: Mobile Manager).

The first Palm device, it offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 4 GB Microdrive. Furthermore, an ARM processor with 416 MHz and a display with 320 x 480 pixels is installed.

While all previous handhelds used a volatile RAM or Flash memory chips to store data, this unit has a hard drive. This must be just switched on for any program that is not already in RAM, thereby saving time ( one-half to one second) is lost and the battery life will be affected. This is a contra - argument for many users. File access can, however, be accelerated by Cache third-party programs. The maximum term is usually given with about three hours, but varies greatly with the type of use - while with the screen switched off maturities of more than six hours are possible about when reading e -books or listening to music, can when viewing videos of the battery is already exhausted after two hours. On the other hand, reduces the use of a non-volatile storage medium, the risk of data loss due to a deep discharge of the battery.

The production of the LifeDrive was discontinued in early 2007.
