Liliam Kechichián

Liliam Kechichian ( born March 2, 1952 in Montevideo) is a Uruguayan politician.

Liliam Kechichian who is of Armenian descent, taught as a lecturer in the Department of Tourism at the Instituto de Turismo de Capacitación. From 1990 to 1995, the co-founder of the Frente Amplio a mandate as Edil held in Montevideo. From 2000 to 2005 she was Director of Tourism and Leisure of Intendency of Montevideo. In 2004 she was elected to the Cámara de Representantes and took over the presidency of the Tourism Commission. She was also President of the Corporación Turística. In 2006 she was during the reign of President Tabaré Vázquez State Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism and Sport and held this position in the following years under the presidency of José Mujicas from. In that year, she was honored as " Woman of the Year 2006 in Tourism" ( " La Mujer del Año 2006 en Turismo "). In 2011 it was such an honor for a second time. On 31 May 2012 she took over as the successor of Héctor Lescano the Office of Tourism and Sports Minister.
