Lilly Pulitzer

Lillian Lee McKim (* July 7, 1931 in Roslyn, Long Iceland, New York, † April 7, 2013 ) was an American fashion designer and designer.

At the age of seventeen McKim attended the Girls' School Miss Porter 's School in Farmington, in the U.S. state of Connecticut. After finishing school she began training as a midwife in a hospital in the Bronx. In 1950 she married Peter Pulitzer, grandson of Joseph Pulitzer, and lived with him on his citrus plantation in Palm Beach, Florida. The marriage produced three children, Peter, Liza and Minnie went out. During this time she designed her first clothes and calling them later Classic Shift Dress. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, future First Lady, was one of the first celebrities who wore their collection and was photographed in Life magazine. This made them known throughout the country. In 1969 she divorced her husband and went a short time later, a re- marriage to Enrique Rousseau.

The label Lilly Pulitzer produced today in addition to clothing and shoes, jewelry and accessories. The products are sold in several company-owned stores and major department stores such as Bloomingdale's.
