Lim Chong Eu

Tun Dato ' Seri Dr. Lim Chong Eu ( born May 28, 1919 in Penang, † November 24, 2010 ) was a Malaysian politician and businessman. In 1937 he won a scholarship and studied until 1944 at the University of Edinburgh medicine.

Lim was an active politician and chairman of the Malaysian Chinese Association and Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia the. From 1969 to 1990 he was Chief Minister of Penang. As such, he is considered the father of industrialization of Penang. He made sure that numerous companies in the electronics industry in Penang settled that developed subsequently to the "Silicon Iceland " of Asia.

After 1990 he retired from politics in order to concentrate on his business. He was chairman and adviser to several major corporations.
