Lin Dai

Linda Lin Dai (Chinese林黛, * as Cheng Yueru December 26, 1934 in Guilin, † July 17, 1964 in Hong Kong ) was a Chinese- American actress.

Life

Linda Lin Dai was born in 1934 with the name Cheng Yueru as the daughter of a politician Cheng Siyuan ( b. 1908 ). Her childhood was marked by the Chinese civil war. 1948 her family fled in the wake of Mao Zedong seized power after Hong Kong. There Yeru Cheng received her first acting lessons from Yang'an yuan, director of Great Wall Movie Enterprises Ltd.. Your first camera appearance was in 1952 after changing to Yung Hwa film. She starred in Singing Under The Moon the female lead. With this film, she became famous overnight and worked from 1953 as a freelance actress. In 1957 she received for her performance in Golden Lotus ( Jin Ping Mei is an adaptation of ) the Titles Movie Queen of the Asian Film Festival. The next year she played the role of Diaochan in the film Diau Charn. 1961 and 1962, she was again awarded as a movie queen, for her films Les Belles and Love Without End.

In addition to her acting career, Lin Dai busy with drama and Linguistics Studies at New York's Columbia University. There she met Long Shenxun, whom she married on February 12, 1961. In December 1961, she was godmother of the child actress Fung Bobo. Her son was born in Long Zonghan on April 3, 1963 in New York.

On July 17, 1964, Lin Dai and her husband took after protracted negotiations life. She was buried at the St. Michael's Cemetery in Hong Kong.
