Lin Halliday

Lin Halliday ( born June 16, 1936 in De Queen, Arkansas, † 25 January 2000 ) was an American tenor saxophonist of modern jazz.

Life and work

Lin Halliday grew up in Little Rock, where he played in the school saxophone and clarinet. He then moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as a professional musician and has performed with saxophonist Joe Maini. 1955/57 he played with Ralph Pena in the quintet with trumpeter Jack Millman (Four More). 1958 Halliday moved to New York City, 1966 to Nashville; He left in 1980, settled in Chicago. There was established in 1991 for Delmark Records, his first album under his own name, Delayed exposure, with guest musicians such as Ira Sullivan and Jodie Christian. In 1992 he was again with Sullivan / Christian East of the Sun, 1993 Where Or When. Halliday established since then in the local Chicago jazz scene and performed in jazz clubs of Chicago, such as the Green Mill, Shop Bop, Joe Segal 's Jazz Showcase and the Get Me High Lounge. His live concert with trumpeter Brad Goode 's was released in 1998 on the album Shock of the New.
